We are so excited to share with you our KiraKira blog!

A little bit about KiraKira...

KiraKira was started by Suz Somersall in 2009 when she moved to Japan with her husband, a Marine.  They were stationed in Okinawa and lived in a tiny Japanese village.  Suz initially sold her jewelry to military spouses and selling in the base gift shops.  By the time Suz left Japan two years later she had built up quite a following.  KiraKira means 'bling bling' or  'shimmering' in Japanese.  Our first "store" in nyc was a card table set up in Brooklyn on a chilly Saturday afternoon in December...doing over $500 the first day.

We have been featured on sites like DailyCandy, Refinery29 and OpenSky, and in magazines like Oprah, Glamour,Martha Stewart Weddings and Real Simple.

A little bit about our founder, designer and creative director Suz...

Suz Somersall began her love for jewelry and adornment at an early age in her hometown of New Orleans. Living in this carnival city with French and Spanish influences, the opulent architecture, costumes, and environment of New Orleans filled her with a great appreciation for design.

Her interest in form and shape grew as she studied the silhouetted artwork of Kara Walker as an undergraduate at Brown University, and then as a graduate student at the Rhode Island School of Design. She went on to pursue her passion for design in ateliers in Tuscany and on her own in Japan.
